Brupower is a Brussels-based energy cooperative offering an alternative model. Its main objective is not to make a profit, but to guarantee a reasonable energy system for citizens and the planet. Citizens wishing to invest collectively in renewable energies can join Brupower, and all members are co-owners of the production facilities.
The Brupower initiative aims to regain control of energy supply, reducing dependence on energy imports and large commercial companies. The aim is to promote a fair, social and democratic energy transition in collaboration with all the residents of Brussels. The cooperative stands out for its strong values and transparent approach.
Brupower aims to achieve three main activities:
- Promote the inclusion of all the region’s citizens in the energy transition
- Increase the production of renewable energy for Brussels.
- Set up a mechanism to supply Brussels households with green, ethical and local electricity through energy sharing.
